Internet Addicts Starved Child to Death
By Do Je-hae
Staff ReporterA married couple was recently apprehended by the police for causing the death of their baby daughter from negligence due to an Internet game addiction. They had been on the run since their baby died from starvation five months ago in their hometown of Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.
The 41-year-old father, identified only as Kim, met and married his 25-year-old wife in 2008 through Internet chatting. The couple’s daughter was born in June 2009.
They spent from six to 12 hours at a PC room daily, engaging obsessively in games and leaving their baby alone at their home without food or care. The baby was found dead on Sept. 24.
An autopsy by the National Institute of Scientific Investigation determined that the death was mainly caused by a “lengthy period of malnourishment.”At the time of the baby’s death, Kim made a report to the police. “When we woke up, we found that the baby had died,” he said. But the couple at the time denied charges of negligence.
After the funeral, the couple disappeared, but the policed tracked them down and arrested them on Tuesday.
During an investigation after the arrest, they admitted their role in the baby’s death and said that they have shunned PC rooms for the last five months due to a “sense of guilt.”
The baby was reportedly in good health for the first three months after birth while she was being cared for by her grandparents. But when the couple moved to Suwon, the infant spent most of the day alone with her parents away at the Internet cafes.
According to police, the baby was said to have cried all day in her nursery from hunger, but no one was around to feed her.
Infants of her age need to be fed ten times per day, but she was only given milk once or twice a day, police said. The police requested an autopsy by the National Institute of Scientific Investigation.
The couple had no stable income and were financially dependent on the wife’s parents. The police said that their addiction seems to have been a way of venting their stress and freeing themselves from money and childcare concerns.
The police found that the addicts spent their time at the PC room engaging in a role-playing game where they get to raise a female character. Players can buy clothes and accessories for the girl and keep parenting journals on blogs.
Psychology experts are calling for proper measures to help first-time parents in dealing with the stress from child-rearing.

What made these people think they were good enough to be parents in the first place? Hearing about these kinds of things disgust me so bad that I just had to post it! I think people like this should be treated to the same death that they gave to their helpless baby!
Now I, Skeletor, am master of the universe.
I found He-man’s enemy in my hometown!

She must have found out, and had a heart-attack!
I know I have been slacking on my posts lately but, I do have a plan to post about the trip I took last weekend, and the eclipse that we had over here. I will post these as soon as my co-worker sends me the pictures he took with his camera.
Oh my! Check out this bass caught in Japan recently..
22Pounds of big boy fish!
I would love to catch a fish 1/4th that size! I couldn’t imagine reeling that thing in on my rod, heck it only has 12Pound line on it..
I have always been interested in Google’s Easter eggs, so I am going to post an entry covering some of the major ones that I know of.
First, the most obvious Google egg is the Easter egg game. The idea behind this egg is to make the bunny catch the eggs spelling out Google. It is kind of a boring waste of time but, still an egg!

The second egg I enjoy involves using Google Calculator. Google having some majorly geeky people working for them often input sneaky little things into their search engine including the answer to life! If you go to a Google search prompt and type:
“answer to life the universe and everything”
Google will prompt you with the answer from a popular movie by saying “answer to life the universe and everything =42″. The same can be done by typing in a few other entries into their search engine such as:
“number of horns on a unicorn” and “once in a blue moon”
If anyone has ever played a game by Konami then you might be aware of their famous cheat code. Using Google Reader hit the following keys to reveal a little secret the programmers have hidden from you “Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Ride B A”. Those sneaky little guys have hid some ninjas right there on your reader homepage!
Another sneaky thing they have put in is on Picasa their image hosting and gallery site, when you go to your Picasa site hit the keys “CTRL+SHIFT+Y” to add a little teddy bear to your screen. You can do this as many times as you would like until you have had your limit of pretty little bears. I don’t know if it is really fun or disturbing.
Those are the only ones I could think of, if you have any good ones please share with me
Over the past week I manged to pick up a Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM for my camera thanks to my co-worker Mike! This lens will replace the stock lens that came with my camera and help me with some normal shooting at closer ranges which my other lens won’t let me do.
I haven’t got a chance to see how much better of a lens it is over my first one yet, but I can’t wait! I have to wait for it to stop raining first ![]()
I hope everyone has a happy 4th of July weekend, and remember why we celebrate this holliday! It is not just about the BBQ’s and fireworks, it’s about the greatest nation on the planet earth turning one more year older!
It is amazing to think the USA is only 233 years old and has claimed the title of the world’s leading superpower considering we have some countries centuries older than us. I am proud to be called an American, and you should be too! All you other tools can kiss my American butt if you got something to say bad about my country! Ha!
Don’t drink and drive, Practice safe sex, and watch your wallet some greasy mofo might run off with it if your not careful!
